Short, dark and faintly creey. Aug. 22nd, 2006 @ 09:43 am
I don't particularly understand my fascination with murderous priests and cults, but frankly it's too late in the game to figure it out!

I dreamt this scene last night. It was so cinematic and vivid that I made the choice to write it down before the memory left me. I'm still puzzling over what on earth it could possibly mean.

Written, as per usual, for my fiction class. Inspired by Shawn Colvin's "Wichita Skyline" and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's "Shuffle Your Feet". Runaway astronauts in love.

What is with me and Catholics? I'M NOT EVEN CATHOLIC. Feb. 15th, 2006 @ 11:20 pm
This is almost a crossover with [info]henchman409's little universe involving her character Father Gregory Bower. I didn't mean it though! X) It was too good to pass up. And now we both agree that somehow the two stories were meant to be one.

The class prompt was to write about a scenario (I chose "a nun who is questioning her faith"), beginning by describing the setting, then introducing the main character and one stranger. The line of text that first involves a person indicates where I started the second half of the assignment. They weren't written in one sitting (I had a thirty minute break in between them), but I joined the two for posting purposes.

The entirety is set at Our Lady of Perpetual Hope church in St. Louis, MO. The events occur before [info]henchman409's character Gregory confronts Father Montgomery about child molestation allegations that turn out to be true. And kills him.

It's one of the best things I've written to this date.

Also one of the most tragic.

Of cigarettes and last thoughts. Dec. 14th, 2005 @ 04:32 pm
It's sad :O But I'm fond of it. We had to write a story that goes with a song of our choice. I picked Jeff Buckley's "Grace".

Another random bit of character study for fiction class. I originally hand-wrote it for a twenty minute prompt. The topic was, "I Fell in Love with a Surfer on the F-Train". (The F-Train being the NYC train that starts in Queens and ends in Coney Island, btw.)

I have a dumb sense of humor, but here's what I came up with.

Nothing says funny quite like a half-awake business man cornered by a crazy lady on his morning commute. )

Hey, the one person I wanted to like it did, so that's good enough for me.

This will be filled with my stupid writing.

BUT FIRST. A haiku.

But how does it end
Between our warring red hearts
Alone at sunrise

Mmm emo.
